This, as you can see, is the Liberty Ship Jeremiah O'Brien. It is the only operating Liberty ship left today. Considering the average construction times for these guys was a rediculous 30 days its pretty sad this is the last one. Its based in San Francisco. You can tour it daily and it makes half a dozen or so cruises each year. Including one on the forth of July, and one during the yearly air show.

This was actually one of the highlights of our trip. It was like stepping to a part of history. I hope to be participate on one of its cruises sometime in the future

In San Francisco of course. This picture was actually taken on the last day of our trip. I like the way the light fog gives the bridge an almost ghostly look.

Sadly enough we where in Frisco for 6 days an did not get a chance to go over the Golden Gate. We had planned to ride bikes across but it didn't work out. About 2 miles down the road the wind kicked up something fierce. So we stopped took a few pictures (including this one) and went back. We did sail under the bridge on a harbor cruise for what its worth. Next time we will make the treck across.

Here we are. Tearin' up the track. We had a great time on our racing vacation........ Umm, Actually it was just a part of our vacation. We spent two weeks in california. Half in San Diego the Other half in San Francisco. This is a picture from one fo the more entertaining activities we did.

Mirimar Speed Circuit. This is an indoor go-cart track, and these carts are fast. Definatly more exciting that your Putt-Putt variety. Hopefully this will only be the first post in my return to blogging. More comming soon.

Soon we all came to see e-mail as a sort of Pandora's Box. We had been curious we all used it, evil came forth. Even with the evil there was good. Instantaneous communication. No stamps. Online shopping. But just as we started to except e-mail with all its woes, new digital communication experiences would emerge.

Soon, the internet became common place in all our houses, and cell phones where in all our pockets. As we should have expected the evils of advertising would follow. Text messages "Loose weight fast". Instant messages "Seee hot t girlz fre". Even in the most sacred of places the comments of our blogs "Make 300,000 in 2 months".

Now it has mad a more disturbing jump. It is now on Xbox Live. I pure world, corrupted with nothing more than gratuitous fictional sex, violence, language, and product placement has been violated by span. As i find my self solicited to "visit my website, it will be worth it"

We have the old girl running now. All the lights are hooked up and working properly. Most importantly its starting to look like a viable truck.

Once again I find my self in debt to this guy. What kind of ring is he running. He ships people with no home out to small towns in the middle of nowhere. He then expects you to pay for this house he puts you in. Worse yet you have to thank him for the privilage by running some errands for him. Like Mailing out sale fliers and such. Man, even in the small towns you can't get away from the mob.

P.S. This guy seams to have an agent in every town.

In a revelation that I most definatly did not see comming George Takei comes out. Guess this just goes to show you that to much time away from a starbase has the same effect as too much time on a submarine.

In other news, I am stuck working the time change night. I have to say seeing the clock go from 1:59 to 1:00 was pretty depressing. Kinda like the worst kind of dejavu.

.So, I have come to an interesting new delima. I seam less able to keep my PC up to par in performance. This has realy happened for good and bad reasons. The bad: There just isn't anything to play on the PC these days. The Good: Other, more physical hobies, like motorcycles, bikes, and a certain special lady have taken more of my time/money.

So, in this realization I have tried to stretch my PCs usefull life. Step 1, add DVD burner. Step 2, add USB 2.0 card. Now combine those with the new Video camera my Dad just bought and I have now added video editing to the uses for my computer. It can still just barley pull off any game and with the addition of these new media and interfaces I can use all the new toys with it.

Picked up some new power tools today. Its a pretty sweet 4 piece 18v Black and Decker set. Came with a circular saw, drill, sander, reciprocating saw, 2 batteries and charger. Then lucky for me, they happened to have a promotional box that added another battery and a stud finder (always lights up when I hold it for some reason). Then when we payed for it we got 2 rebates. One for another free battery, and a second for a free 18v tool. So, for $191 after taxes I will eventualy end up with 5 tools (6 with the stud finder), 4 batteries, and a double battery charger.

Adam and I found copies of Taiko Drum Master for $20 at Best Buy. Nicley including the drum controler. I have to say its a really fun game. More complex than you would expect and a great selection of songs. Sadly I do not think it did anywhere near well enough to bring a sequel to the US.

Went to White Sands this weekend after the car show. It was alot of fun. Aparently they rerouted thier roads since the last time I was there. Made things a bit disorienting. The picture is of me sledding down the dune.

On a finnal note. Eye Toy Anti-grav. This is a surprisingly well done game. It actually uses the Eye Toy in a maner that does not involve you looking at yourself. You basicly control a hoverboard rider by moving your body side, up and down, and waving your arms. IT works suprisingly well after a short bit of aclimiation time. Maybe we will see that dragon Eye Toy game I saw at E3 actually make it to market sometime.

Finnaly Pokemon

As promised, here is the afore mentioned Pokemon Posts. Seams this preiview meathod realy keeps people comming back. No wonder TV uses it so much.

I have always liked the Pokemon games. A guilty pleasure? Probably. Anyways, Felicia's son, like all 9 year old boys, likes Pokemon. So after seeing him play so much I could no loner resist the lure. So I picked up Leafgreen and we both started the game from the begining. The real interesting thing is the how different we play. The first time we battled I had a dozen pokemon, with the strongest at level 17. He had 4 Pokemon, but his stronges was level 27. On top of that he had only about half my play time.

Sadly thats not all that came of the Pokemon hunger. I also ended up buying Pokemon XD for the gamecube. So to say the least I have had my extra time filled with Pokemon recently.

One of the more major pieces of body work our old Willies needs is in the bed. After some investigation my Dad and I decided that the bed would not be useful in its current state. Someone brought up the fact that things would fall through onto the road.

We are making good progress on the truck now. We finished removing the bed yesterday. Now that just leaves remove the cab, remove all glass and gauges from the cab, take bed to body shop, take cab to body shop, buy new front fenders, sand and clean the frame,......

Well its a nice start. With a little luck we should have her together, drivable, and registered by the end of the year.

Friday my Dad and I decided we would wonder around the desert out on the West Mesa looking for "Killbourne Hole". 4 ranches, 2 mud holes, and 2 hours of wondering we found our way there. Its a pretty neet sight. Din't think there was anything this significant within an hour of LC. Well, uess I was wrong. Check out the other pictures on my flicker page. I for some reason did not feel like uploading the full size (5-6MB) panoramas onto flickr.

I went to X-prize thing here in good old LC. It was kind of neet. I didn't have much time there unfortunatly. Did find out about some cool stuff. The Southern New Mexico Spaceport will have its first comercial launch next year and In 2007 they will have the first Rocket plane races in the spaceport. I will definatly have to try to go see the rocket plane races when that comes around. Something different at least.
